Probably the earliest table grape in the world, of Latvian origin, sold in a 3-liter pot, with a height of approximately 75 cm (much earlier than pearl of Csaba).
Marketed for the first time, it is the only grape vine, to our knowledge, capable of reaching full maturity in the upper Ardennes (500m altitude) in early September. Its resistance to winter cold is estimated at -23 degrees C.
It produces medium, rather loose clusters, with berries about 1.5 cm in diameter, white-yellow, very sweet (17 ° Brix when ripe), muscated with a floral aroma, delicious.
In the high Ardennes, it resists both mildew and powdery mildew.
Be careful however: in this year 2019, it developed symptoms of Black Rot on the first leaves, then the infection stopped. We do not know if it is a resistance phenomenon or not.
We also found that the wood hardening is too slow in the upper Ardennes, unless it is trellised against a wall. This point should not be a problem at low altitude.
This vine requires long pruning, because the first buds of canes of the previous year are not fertile (they don't produce flowers). Prune after the sixth bud.
More observation is needed in the years to come.
